There is information on Wiki-Tree and other sources to say that both

Adeline Keple / Keppel and Rita Keppel were related, and other information speculating that they are also related to a

Grace Livingstone / Grace McNally and/or Florence Stone / Florence Chambers as distant relatives of Rita.

But this is unlikely.

In a Marriage Cert of 1880, William Stone married Ann Eliza Keppel, and William Stone (The Groom) stated that his father

was John Stone.

This therefore indicates that John Stone is the Great-Grandfather of both Grace Livingstone/McNally and

Florence Stone/Chambers ?

In contrast, the Great Grandfather's of Rita Keppel are Thomas Keppel and likely Mr. Scanlon (father of Esther)

unconfirmed but most likely. It is suggested that Rita Keppel and Grace Livingstone/McNally and Florence Stone/Chambers had the same "Great-Grandfathers" as Rita, but it is a mystery how they came to that idea.. It's unlikely John Stone and Thomas Keppel and Mr. Scanlon are the same persons whichever way you look at it ???

Adeline Keple / Keppel and Rita Keppel...

Notwithstanding having a similar name, Adeline Keple/ Keppel and Rita Keppel, and having similar named fathers,

they are in fact NOT RELATED and this is just a weird coincidence and common belief, that they were.

An examination of both their Birth Certificates shows Adeline and Rita both had different Mothers.

Adeline Keple/Keppel Mother = Mary Keple / O'Brien

Rita Keppel Mother = Catherine Keppel / Roche

The woman who registered the Birth of Adeline Keppel at her home, was a resident in the same accommodation

and friend of the family and knew the family quite well.

One can hardly say it was a mid-wife who just got her notes mixed up.

The facts are the facts, even if people prefer not to believe them, for convenience.

The "Registry of Births Marriages and Deaths" in Dublin have also "confirmed" that notwithstanding Adeline Keple/Keppel

and Rita Keppel having fathers of a similar name and both living together, that Adeline Keple/Keppel and Rita Keppel

are amazingly still NOT related and not even Half-Sisters or Mother and Daughter as others believe them to be or

portrayed themselves to be.

It's known that William Keppel was a Milkman and Dairyman who would deliver milk and visit housewives in the early mornings to deliver his milk and also return to such customers at the end of the week to collect his payments.

It is known that William Keppel' s 1884 own father, from Carlow, Ireland was also William Keppel (Senior) born 1844, a Protestant was involved with a Protestant Orphan School in Tullow in the 1880's, at the time, but is long since gone.

William Keppel (senior) from Carlow, Ireland, fathered a young son Thomas 1880 who died as a child.

William Keppel (senior) from Carlow, Ireland had fathered a 2nd son William born in Carlow in 1882.

William's wife Rachel Keppel/Stone sadly died from complications of the birth in March 1882 and there is evidence, that the

young baby William 1882 also died around the same time in 1882, as his mother Rachel just after he was born.

A very sad state of affairs and a tragedy.

Not only did William Keppel (senior) lose his two baby sons Thomas + William but he also lost his wife Rachel Keppel

at the same time in March 1882 in Tullow, Co. Carlow.

William Keppel (senior) 1844 now a WIDOWER, went-on to Marry a Second Time, two years later in 1884.

He continued to reside in Tullow, Co. Carlow for the next few years, with his second wife Esther, but soon afterwards they

moved to live in Dublin. William 1844 and his son William 1884 can be found in the Census 1911 for Dublin. William 1884 William aged 27 Years (head of household) born in Dublin and married in Dublin and his wife Catherine, living with his father William Keppel (Senior) 1844 and his father's second wife Esther Scanlon all in the same household.

William Keppel 1884 aged 27 years signed the Census Form himself.

Earlier Census's forms for Dublin are hard to find and most likely lost, destroyed or burned in the Dublin Record Office fire

in 1922.

Too many memories in Tullow for William and Esther and they wanted to make a new start in Dublin.

William 1844 fathered another child, born, this time in "Dublin" in 1884 , a SECOND WILLIAM KEPPEL, and subsequent to the

death of his deceased first wife Rachel Keppel/Stone who died in 1882.

This information is confirmed by the National Archives.

After the death of Rachel, both William Keppel (senior) 1844 originally from Carlow, and his 2nd Wife Esther moved to Dublin

with his son, also, William Keppel born in Dublin 1884. After William 1884 was born, he lived in Tullow, Carlow for a few

years before they all moved to Dublin. William Keppel (senior) 1844 and his 2nd wife Esther both

died in Dublin and also their son William Keppel 1884-1957 also died in Dublin and also his wife Catherine and other members

of the family. There was at least "three" William Keppel's in the family, and another William Keppel in Carlow, with a

similar date of birth. So many William Keppel's. But the Registrar at the Births, Marriages and Deaths clearly

knew they were not related and not even the same father's.

The Keppel family were very religious and were church-goers with strong ties with regular donations to religious

orders.

The family lived a very basic life with no luxuries or wealth evident.

The family are survived by at least 20+ Second Cousins Once-Removed, who live both in Ireland and elsewhere.

The fire in 1922 at the Public Records Building in Dublin meant that the history of the Keppel Family took a long time

to document. Most of the records from the time, were paper and ink and in pre-internet days.

Some records were held in other places, that were not involved in the fire.

It is a most unusual set of circumstances and nothing about the Keppel's can be 100% certain.

But this is the Keppel Story, based on "known facts" and " official documents" etc..

is not known, it is just, that we are not writing a book and people like you, probably have other things to be
